About
Mengcen Shen holds a Master of Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design. She also holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from China Academy of Art, and a Master of Design Arts degree from Shanghai University. Prior to Architecture, she majored in Experimental Arts—Installation Art and Experimental Film.
Shen focuses on multiple realms ranging from Fine Arts, Architecture to Literature, Music and Cinema. The possibilities of blurring and crossing the boundaries among these realms stimulate most of her explorations. On the other hand, specific research on independent disciplines makes the realms be themselves. It is a paradox, to transcend and to maintain simultaneously. And the cracks generated when different realms impact with each other provide the opportunity of creation.
